## Definition

The person or organisation that entrusts objects to an auction house for sale. The consignor agrees the commission and reserves with the house, and receives the net proceeds after the sale.

Consignors range from private individuals and estates to dealers, collectors and institutions. Many of them also buy, which is why a single client record for both roles is useful.

In Selloff, a contact can be a consignor and a buyer at the same time. Consignments, receipts, lots, results and statements are all reachable from the client record, and documents sent to the consignor are logged in their activity history.
