## Definition

A lot removed from a sale after the catalogue was published, for example at the consignor's request, because of a doubt about authenticity or title, or after damage. It is announced before or during the sale and not offered.

A withdrawn lot keeps its lot number, so the rest of the catalogue numbering does not change. The withdrawal must reach every channel quickly: absentee bidders, phone bidders and each online platform. Depending on the consignment contract, the consignor may owe a withdrawal fee.

In Selloff, a lot's status can be set to withdrawn in the view/change sale screen, and no further bids can be recorded on lots removed from a catalogue.

- [Unsold lot (bought in)](https://www.selloff.auction/glossary/unsold-lot.md): A lot that does not find a buyer at the sale, usually because bidding did not reach the reserve. The lot is passed or bought in, and may then be offered after the sale, re-offered later or returned to the consignor.
- [Lot number](https://www.selloff.auction/glossary/lot-number.md): The number under which a lot appears in a given sale catalogue and is called by the auctioneer. It follows the catalogue order and changes from one sale to another, unlike the lot's permanent inventory reference.
