## What the OM Finance export does

OM Finance is an accounting package used by Swiss companies. Selloff records the detailed accounting of your sales (hammer prices, buyer's premium, commissions, fees, VAT and payments) and produces the files OM Finance imports, so your accountant does not re-enter auction invoices by hand.

## How it works

1. Give each Selloff account the number it has in OM Finance, using the **export account number** where the two differ.
2. In **Accounting › Exports**, check the transactions not yet exported for each period, currency and branch, then create an export for a branch, currency and date range.
3. Download the four files of the export in the OM Finance format: buyer invoices, consignor invoices, supplier invoices and payments.

The files are tab-separated text files. Each line carries the date, a label with the client number and name, the journal, the line number, the document number, the account, and debit or credit amounts in the accounting currency and in the original currency, with the currency code. For each payment, Selloff looks at the invoice it settles to choose the right counterpart: buyer, consignor or supplier. When a payment was made in another currency than the one of the branch, the export's exchange rate is applied and conversion lines are added.

Counterpart accounts are set per branch and currency in the accounting settings. See also [accounting export](https://www.selloff.auction/features/accounting-export.md) and [VAT & international tax](https://www.selloff.auction/features/vat-international-tax.md).

## Frequently asked questions

### How are payments in foreign currencies handled?

When a payment was made in a currency other than the accounting currency of the branch, Selloff converts it with the exchange rate recorded on the export and adds the conversion lines, so the entries balance in OM Finance.

### Can the same transactions be exported twice?

No. Once a transaction is included in an export, it is marked as exported and can no longer be modified or exported again. The **Exports** page shows, for each period, currency and branch, how many transactions are still unexported, in export or already exported.
