Condition report

Also known as · Condition statement

Definition
A written description of an object's physical state (damage, restorations, wear, missing parts) prepared by the auction house, usually on request, to help a bidder decide without seeing the object.

Condition reports complement the catalogue description, which may be brief. They are generally given as a statement of opinion rather than a guarantee, as set out in the conditions of sale, and are often sent with additional photographs.

In Selloff, supporting images and documents can be attached to each lot by scan type, so the specialist answering a request has everything in one place.
