Consignment receipt

Also known as · Deposit receipt · Intake receipt · Consignment agreement

Definition
The document an auction house issues when it takes in objects for sale, listing the items, the consignor and the agreed terms. Signed by both parties, it is the reference for every later step.

A receipt records what was delivered, when and under which conditions: commission, lot fees, insurance, reserves and storage location. It protects both parties if a question arises later about the number or condition of the objects.

In Selloff, each receipt has a status (not delivered, delivered and awaiting description, describing, completed) and can carry the signed document as an attachment. Staff can print or email the lot list, delivery receipt and sales slip from it, and each sending is logged on the consignor's record.
