Lot label and barcode

Also known as · Barcode label · Lot tag · Lot ticket

Definition
A label attached to an object or its packaging showing its lot number, internal reference and a barcode, so that it can be identified and scanned at every stage from intake to shipping.

Labels prevent mix-ups between similar objects such as coins, stamps or jewellery, and speed up viewing, packing and collection. Two kinds are common: a permanent inventory label applied at intake, and a lot number label printed once the catalogue is numbered.

In Selloff, both kinds are printed on label printers, the number of labels per lot can depend on the packaging type, and barcodes are scanned when preparing shipments.
